Oakland Transportation Authority is comprised of four (4) municipalities
in northeast Oakland County. These communities, Orion and Oxford Townships, and the Villages of Lake Orion and Oxford have historically been underserved by the regions public transportation
authority, SMART. This has been primarily due to our remoteness to
Oakland County's population centers. The only service that existed
prior to the creation of grass-roots advocacy and coalition-building,
was a program initiated in Oxford and Addison townships that operated
one (1) vehicle.
In 2001, Oxford, Orion, and Addison residents formed the
North Oakland Transportation Authority (N.O.T.A.).

The residents NOTA serves are transit dependent individuals who need help getting to medical appointments, grocery shopping, community events and work.
